The recent acquisition of 2015 NFL MVP Cam Newton will open a new chapter in the New England Patriots' history books. Since his arrival in Foxborough, the presence of Newton has already left his Patriots teammates in awe.

Veteran wide receiver Julian Edelman only had good things to say about his new quarterback:

“He’s a specimen, for sure,” Edelman said, via WEEI.com. “When you first meet him — just his stature, the dude is large, put together well and he has great energy. He has a great energy about himself. I was really impressed with his work ethic and his mindset. Just like I have been impressed with Stidham’s and Hoyer’s. I have been throwing with those guys as well.”

Big expectations are set on the three-time Pro Bowler as he is looking to carry the torch left by long-time Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. That's of course assuming he ultimately become the starting playmaker come Week 1.

Newton will also have a huge hurdle ahead of him. In light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, several of the team's key players have opted out of playing in the upcoming season. This leaves the Patriots with a depleted roster in 2020. With an undermanned group, the franchise is still looking to make it back on top of the AFC East division for the 12th-straight year.

Setback definitely aren't new to Cam Newton, though. After a 2015 season for the books, Newton was eventually derailed by several shoulder and toe injuries. During the offseason, after failing to find a trade partner, the Carolina Panthers announced they had officially released Newton.

With a new home and a healthy condition, the 2010 Heisman Trophy winner is looking to make the most out of a change in scenery with the New England Patriots. He is aiming for a bounce-back season to remind the rest of the league that he is still a player to be feared for.
