New England Patriots star Julian Edelman joins the long list of celebrities urging people to stay indoors due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic that is quickly spreading across the entire world.

In a short but simple tweet, the Patriots' wide receiver gave the advice that doctors and health professionals have been giving for the past couple of weeks: stay home.

With the COVID-19 pandemic forcing many to stay home and lose their jobs, professional sports have been altered as well. Some leagues have been forced to cancel events while some like the NBA have already suspended their season with no return date officially announced.

If the virus continues to spread, there is fear that the upcoming NFL season will have to be postponed or even canceled altogether.

Per the New York Times, coronavirus cases in the U.S. have now topped 100,000 — more than any other country in the world. The pandemic has also led to at least 1,500 deaths in the country with states like New York, New Jersey, California and Washington being the most heavily affected.

Worldwide, COVID-19 has infected nearly 600,000 people, killing more than 27,000 with that number rising daily.

On the field, Julian Edelman has been the Patriots' top receiver for the past couple of seasons. In 2019, the  33-year-old pass-catcher notched his third-career 1,000-yard season as he recorded 100 catches for a career-high 1,117 yards and six touchdowns.

Entering season number 11, Edelman will once again likely be the Patriots' go-to option in the passing game.
