New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman had another fantastic season in 2019. He recorded 100 receptions for 1,117 yards and six touchdowns being a major part of the offense.

However, he had to undergo a shoulder procedure earlier in the offseason. There is good news with that though. It will not be a ‘lengthy rehab.' In fact, the Patriots expect him to be ready for their offseason program, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

So this seems to be nothing very serious. It certainly wasn't something that kept him from playing. It seems pretty safe to assume that if the Patriots were in the Super Bowl, he would not have had this procedure yet, and would be playing in that game.

The Patriots did not make the Super Bowl though. That means that Edelman got to have the procedure earlier, pushing up the timetable considerably.

New England's offense seemed to take a step back last season. They did not have nearly the firepower they usually possess, and Brady looked older than ever (obviously) in 2019.

Due to that, Edelman is that much more important to the team. He is a constant and reliable target. One that every team would love to have, but also one that thrives perfectly with the Patriots.

So the fact that he more-than-likely won't be missing any time, not even in the offseason, is great. New England needs him now more than ever, as they try to transition to an offense centered around the younger weapons.

Julian Edelman may not be the young stud anymore, but he still puts up fantastic numbers and can help New England bridge to the next group over the next few years.

Having him healthy and available should be a big point of emphasis for the Patriots.
