New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman looks ready to accept his fate and miss the first four games of the year.

Per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Edelman will not pursue further legal action and sue the league with the hope of having his four-game suspension for performance-enhancing drugs overturned.

“Patriots WR Julian Edelman won’t follow Tom Brady into federal court after an arbitrator recently upheld his PED suspension. Edelman decided not to sue the league, per source — he’ll focus his energy on football and preparing for Week 5 return. Ready to compete, on the field.”

Edelman filed an appeal against his suspension which centered solely on apparent procedural errors during the testing and handling of his sample. However, the suspension was upheld by an independent arbitrator earlier this month.

The lawyer who represented Edelman also handled teammate Tom Brady's case when he took the league to federal court in 2015 for his suspension after Deflategate. But apparently, they opted not to take that course of action in this case.

Instead of taking his fight to court, Edelman will look to get himself ready for Patriots training camp, which will begin next week. The wideout is still working his way back from a torn ACL which caused him to miss all of last season.

Edelman will now have a bit more time to get fully up to speed before he steps back onto the field for a competitive game. After missing their first four games against the Texans, Jaguars, Lions, and Dolphins, he’ll finally be available for their Week 5 meeting at home against the Colts.
