The New England Patriots are heavily favored to win on Sunday but it helps to have one of their key offensive weapons on the field. According to Adam Schefter, Julian Edelman will play in Week 5 versus the Washington Redskins.

Over the past two weeks, Edelman has been nursing a chest injury that he sustained in Week 3 versus the New York Jets. However, his injury doesn't appear to be serious enough to keep him off of the field in Week 5.

Last week, the veteran pass-catcher played with the chest injury against the Buffalo Bills. New England was able to secure a win but Edelman finished with just four receptions for 30 yards.

Luckily for the reigning Super Bowl MVP, he will have a more favorable matchup against the Redskins on Sunday. Washington is searching for their first win of the season with Colt McCoy as their starting quarterback.

Prior to his injury, Edelman picked right back up from where he left off in last year's Super Bowl. Tom Brady's favorite weapon had 17 receptions for 196 yards and a touchdown in Weeks 1-3.

Along with Edelman, New England has Josh Gordon, Phillip Dorsett, and Jakobi Meyers at the wide receiver position. With Edelman suiting up in Week 5, the Patriots will have nearly their full arsenal of weapons against an abysmal Redskins squad on Sunday.

Unlike Edelman, Rex Burkhead and Benjamin Watson will be inactive in Sunday's contest. Burkhead is dealing with a foot injury while Watson has yet to be activated to the roster after serving a four-game suspension.
