Julian Edelman did not play much last year due to a season-ending injury. The Patriots missed him, among other key players, and finished the season 7-9 missing the playoffs.

Over the first few days of free agency, no other team has been more active than the New England Patriots. Of note, they brought in the two top tight ends in the market in Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry. Henry signed a three-year, $37.5 million deal, including $25 million guaranteed. While Smith signed a four-year, $50-million deal, including $31.25 million fully guaranteed.

This prompted Edelman's hilarious tweet about his team's recent signings.

Playing on the factual event of the Boston Tea Party, Edelman changed it to say the Boston “TE” party. There is no question that Bill Belichick was unhappy with his team's performance last year. Prior to last season, the Patriots last missed the postseason in 2008, despite putting up an 11-5 record that year. It was the season in which Tom Brady suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 1, and they were forced to rely on Matt Cassel.

Patriots Spending Money

Belichick has taken matters into his own hand and done something he's not normally used to do, being active in free agency. Belichick and the Patriots have brought in edge rusher Matt Judon, cornerback Jalen Mills to go along with the tight end signings. They also bolstered the offense with wideouts Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne joining the fold. As well as adding nose tackle Davon Godchaux and lineman Henry Anderson on the defensive side

There is no guarantee that the Patriots will be better next season, as they still look for a quarterback. Even with Cam Newton being brought back, and the recent additions the past few days, it all depends on how the offense will mesh and untimely look like on the field.
