The New England Patriots have been dominating news sources due to their aggressive action during free agency. However, on Wednesday, March 24th, a Patriot player made waves for another reason. Right tackle Justin Herron hit the news cycle in Arizona after stopping an attempted sexual assault, per ESPN.

Police said a 30-year-old suspect was seen Saturday pushing a 71-year-old retired teacher to the ground. That's when Herron and a second man, Murry Rogers, intervened.

Herron has apparently been training in Arizona, with a good chance of becoming the starting right tackle for the New England Patriots. After starting in six games last year, he'll be competing for the starting role this offseason. Luckily for the victim, Herron happened to be in the same park as she was at the right time.

The Tempe Police Department spoke about the incident during a news conference and gave Herron and Murray praise for stepping in and preventing such a heinous act.

“We are here to honor two good Samaritans that intervened during this vicious attack and detained the suspect until police could arrive and make sure that he was taken into custody,” Detective Natalie Barela of the Tempe Police Department said at a news conference. “If not for the swift actions of Mr. Justin Herron and Mr. Murry Rogers, this vicious attack could've been much worse.”

Herron stepped in and likely saved this woman's life. He's a hero indeed. For that reason, he's likely earned some new fans in Tempe and should garner much respect in New England for his brave actions. He has a good start in becoming a fan favorite, especially if he wins the starting role.
