Tom Brady was hardly at his best in Super Bowl LIII, finishing 21-of-35 for 262 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. He was better against the Kansas City Chiefs two weeks earlier, leading his team to a thrilling 38-31 win in overtime at Arrowhead Stadium, but still threw more interceptions than touchdowns. Could Brady's legacy, then, possibly have taken a hit during the playoffs despite New England winning yet another championship ring? Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald doesn't seem to think so.

“He's the G.O.A.T., there's no question about that,” the future Hall of Famer told TMZ when asked if Brady was the greatest professional athlete ever. “Six championships is unprecedented, you know?”

It's unclear whether Fitzgerald, who caught two touchdowns in a losing effort in his only Super Bowl appearance to date, was confirming TMZ's claim that Brady stands apart from luminaries in other sports, like Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, and Wayne Gretzky. What seems certain is that he believes the Patriots' legend is the best quarterback ever, and that the defense-first nature of Super Bowl LIII does nothing to minimize the impact of Brady's sixth Lombardi trophy.

“He got another ring,” Fitzgerald said. “That's all that matters. That's all that matters.”

The 34-year-old Fitzgerald caught just 69 passes for 734 yards last season, beset by a putrid Cardinals offense led by inconsistent rookie quarterback Josh Rosen. He still managed to break Jerry Rice's record for career receptions with one team, though, a number he'll look to improve upon as he returns for a 16th NFL season next year.
