In preseason, a team wants to face the stiffest competition to see just exactly where their team is and they can use it as a good measuring stick. Carolina Panthers middle linebacker Luke Kuechly has those exact thoughts and is excited to go up against the New England Patriots in their third preseason game, according to Panthers.com (h/t 247Sports).

“It's a good challenge for us. I enjoy playing those guys,” said Kuechly. “It's a fun challenge. I'm sure they'll bring some interesting stuff to the table, I'm sure. And we're gonna be ready to go.”

The Patriots have one of the best offenses and Tom Brady is always a good test. Just what the Panthers have on defense should be in full display on Friday. Kuechly also said that he loves going against Bill Belichick because it's two smart men going against each other and it's really a test for both sides.

“I think he's one of those guys that gets the line of scrimmage,” said Kuechly of the Patriots' head coach. “He's really calm, he's really collected, he knows what he wants to get accomplished, he knows what he's looking for. So you've got to be on top of your game because he's seen it all, he's seen everybody trying to hide it, and he knows what's going on. You've just gotta try and make it not too easy for him.”

Being the third preseason game, it would be assumed that the Patriots and Panthers will play their starters for most of the first half, which should make for an exciting battle.
