The New England Patriots made a crucial move on Monday, agreeing to a new two-year deal with offensive tackle Trent Brown. With Ted Karras and Shaq Mason gone, the Patriots badly needed a win on the offensive line front, and they got it by re-signing Brown after missing out on La'el Collins.

Needless to say, Patriots quarterback Mac Jones is happy about this latest development. Jones took to social media to express his excitement about the move:

While the Patriots still have more work to do in terms of building this offensive line back up to help protect Jones, this is at least a good start on that front. Brown only appeared in nine games in 2021 because of injury issues, but he's a very effective player when he's able to stay on the field. Staying healthy has proven to be tough the last few seasons, but New England is banking on him in 2022.

This is Brown's second stint with the club. The Patriots first acquired him in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers for the 2018 season, which resulted in a Super Bowl victory. The offensive tackle then cashed out in free agency with the Raiders, only to make his way back to New England in another trade for the 2021 campaign.

The Patriots know how important it is to keep Jones upright, so expect several other key moves on the offensive line to help replace what has been lost. Brown is just the beginning.
