Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia is set to take on his former team, New England Patriots, for the first time since taking his current gig earlier this year. However, the task at hand may be a bit more difficult, as the Patriots acquired star wide receiver Josh Gordon in a trade from the Cleveland Browns this week.

According to Andrew Callahan of Masslive.com, Patricia voiced that the addition of Gordon presents another major problem for the Lions to take on come Sunday afternoon.

“Dangerous guy, vertical threat, big receiver, great body control, great hands, really will be a big challenge for us. For us not to have anything on tape as far as what they're going to do with him, in that aspect also it's a little bit difficult.”

When he has been on the field, Gordon has proven to be a special talent on the field as he possesses the physical traits along with the big-play ability that have the potential to make him a legitimate No.1 wide receiver. His off-the-field issues have prevented him from ever truly fulfilling his huge amount of potential for stardom in the league.

Given the Patriots' current issues at the wide receiver position that still has Julian Edelman out of the lineup do to a suspension, the door is open for Gordon to make a significant impact out of the gate. Much of this will depend on how much of the playbook he digests this week, but New England will look to find ways to get him on the field to maximize his talent in the passing game.

Week 3 could be the first glimpse of what Gordon could bring to the table for the Patriots offense in their hope to contend for yet another Super Bowl this season and possibly well beyond that.
