There has been a whole lot of speculation that Tom Brady could leave the New England Patriots this offseason. But former NFL wide receiver Nate Burleson thinks it's a whole lot of talk about nothing.

Speaking on NFL Network earlier this week, Burleson said that he is pretty sure that Brady will be under center for the Patriots next season:

“No big deal. I don’t understand what all the panic is about. Tom Brady is going to be a Patriot next year,” Burleson said. “Why would he go anywhere else? Tom Brady’s the greatest quarterback of all time, but he’s also the greatest system player of all time. Why would he go somewhere else and risk being in a different system with different players? He’s going to stay in New England, where he is looked at as a god and he’s going to ride off into the sunset whether he wins a Super Bowl or not. He’s not going to do what Michael Jordan did and go play with the Wizards. He’s going to be a Patriot next season.”

Burleson is probably right.

Some have wondered if Brady would depart the only NFL franchise he has ever known and join another team. The Los Angeles Chargers or Las Vegas Raiders are two options, but the smart money has always been on Brady returning to New England.

This whole thing is probably just a ploy by Brady to force the Pats' hand to get him some more weapons. The Patriots' receiving corps was pretty barren in 2019, and let's not even get started with their tight ends.
