New England Patriots fans were expecting their team to lose a couple of coordinators following the Super Bowl, but were not expecting to lose the game. It may take some time to figure out what to do about losing Super Bowl LII, but it shouldn’t take much time to figure out where their next offensive and defensive coordinators are coming from.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk thinks they are going to stay in-house. Wide receivers coach Chad O’Shea is expected to get the promotion to offensive coordinator, and linebackers coach Brian Flores is believed to be in line for the defensive job.

Current defensive coordinator Matt Patricia should be named the head coach of the Detroit Lions in the days to come. Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is expected to become the next head coach of the Indianapolis Colts.

Assistant quarterbacks coach Jerry Schuplinski could get the nod, but he’s only been with the team since 2016. O’Shea has been a part of Belichick’s staff since 2009.

There has been some chatter about Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano being considered for the DC job. Reports have circulated saying he was expected to interview. But then other reports stated that is not the case.

Florio believes Schiano is more likely to be hired for another role. Then, if Flores is hired elsewhere as a head coach, he can step in and take over the defense.

If there is any team that can roll with the punches, it is the New England Patriots. They’ve lost coordinators before, and this will probably not be the last time it happens under Bill Belichick.
