As top prospect Zach Wilson continues to increase his stock for the upcoming NFL Draft, the New England Patriots are clearly doing their due diligence on the highly-touted quarterback.

Patriots team executive Elliot Wolf was named as one of the big dogs who were present during Wilson's BYU pro day in Provo, Utah. The Pats however, were just one of a handful of teams that attended the event to have a close-up look at Wilson (h/t Albert Breer of the MMQB):

That's nearly half of the entire NFL keenly observing Wilson as he showcases his skills ahead of what should be a very interesting draft. For their part, the Patriots are in possession of the fifth overall pick, along with nine other draft picks. Wilson won't be available at No. 5, though, so if they want their man, then New England will need to trade up.

The pats have been quite active in free agency, and they have pretty much filled all their needs as it is. However, the one glaring issue they have is that of their quarterback of the future. Cam Newton is on a one-year deal and it's anyone's guess if the former league MVP ends up staying with the Patriots beyond 2021.

Wilson very much fits the mold as a potential cornerstone star for New England. However, acquiring him will not come cheap for the Patriots. They also have a ton of competition for the 21-year-old, so at this point, nothing is guaranteed.
