The New England Patriots placed veteran Mohamed Sanu on the PUP list to begin training camp but his time there was short-lived. Just a couple of days after being placed on the list, the Patriots activated Sanu from the PUP list on Tuesday.

Sanu was placed on the physically unable to perform list due to an ankle ailment he suffered in 2019. The veteran wideout underwent surgery in March on his ankle and he's been working his way back throughout the offseason.

Last season, ahead of the trade deadline, Sanu was traded to New England from the Atlanta Falcons. It was expected that Sanu would be able to light a spark in the Patriots' offense. However, the versatile wide receiver was unable to get acclimated to New England's offense.

Altogether, in eight games with the Patriots, Sanu snagged 26 receptions for 207 yards and one touchdown. He would also contribute just one catch for 11 yards in New England's lone postseason contest. Following his disappointing campaign, Sanu is determined to prove that the 2019 season was a fluke.

Seeing that the Patriots made a move to sign Cam Newton, New England's offense could look a bit different in 2020. Not long after the Patriots signed Newton, Sanu was seen working out with his new quarterback.

Sanu, who turns 31 years old later this month, is coming off of a season that was filled in disappointment. With the Patriots being counted out by many, Sanu is hoping to help New England keep their dynasty alive in the upcoming season.
