The New England Patriots summer vacation will be getting a bit of an early start with Bill Belichick canceling the last two days of OTAs according to Mike Reiss of ESPN.

According to Reiss, the team will still report to Gillette Stadium on Monday for a team building experience, but the next time they will be on the practice field will be for training camp.

Belichick has always been known as the coach that likes to use all of his practice time that he is allowed but this is the second year in a row that he has canceled the last two days of OTAs. Last year the team building activity was going to Fenway park.

Reiss followed up on Twitter about this being normal because these are built in as makeup days so if they are canceled that means Belichick is really happy with how practices have been going.

This offseason the Patriots had eight practices total, five voluntary and three mandatory minicamp sessions. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady didn't participate at all in the voluntary portion of the practices but he did attend all of the mandatory sessions.

This is a veteran-led team that has been through this year after year and a couple of extra days off is probably a good thing before the team comes back for training camp in July.

The goal this year like every year is to have another ring ceremony at owners Robert Kraft's house next June where they would receive another Super Bowl ring.
