The New England Patriot have officially ushered in a new era under center after parting ways with Tom Brady this offseason. Perhaps even they have touched on the prospect of bringing in former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton.

Newton remains as the most high-profile free agent on the market. Former Patriots linebacker and current NFL analyst Willie McGinest said during an appearance on FOX Sports 1’s “Speak For Yourself” that he has garnered plenty of respect within the organization:

“…I think that Bill Belichick has handled so many different personalities that they would coexist,” McGinest said. “It would be a great working relationship. I’m just telling you guys right now, there is a lot of respect from the Patriots organization when it comes to Cam Newton. They have played several times and Cam Newton has showed out and played at a high level every single time they’ve played.”

McGinest played six seasons for head coach Bill Belichick during his time in New England. It is safe to say that he is quite familiar with the inner workings of their personnel and how they feel about some of the other notable players in the league. It hardly comes as any surprise to see that Newton managed to make a strong impression.

The Patriots are currently set to enter the 2020 NFL season with quarterback Jarret Stidham and Brian Hoyer. Although there is no question that Newton would likely emerge as the starter if healthy, there is some speculation regarding his potential fit in the offense.

Whatever the case, Newton is clearly hoping to get his career back on track by sparking a potential resurgence in the 2020 campaign. New England is perhaps one of the few places well-equipped to help him make it come to fruition.
