In spite of the New England Patriots' sixth Super Bowl championship last month, wide receiver remains a position of need for the ballclub, which is why the Patriots have met with West Virginia wide outs Gary Jennings and David Sills ahead of next month's NFL Draft, according to Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Network.

The wide receiver position became an even more pressing need for the Patriots back in December, when Josh Gordon was indefinitely suspended for violating the terms of his conditional reinstatement under the NFL's drug policy.

Outside of Julian Edelman, New England does not really have any other reliable pass-catchers, unless you want to count Phillip Dorsett, who began to emerge during the postseason.

Jennings is coming off of a senior campaign in which he hauled in 54 receptions for 917 yards and 13 touchdowns, and at 6-foot-2, he could represent a solid possession receiver on the NFL level. He also had an impressive junior season, catching 97 balls for 1,096 yards and a score.

Meanwhile, Sills, who stands 6-foot-4, snared 65 balls for 986 yards while reaching the end zone 15 times this past season, and in the previous year, he registered 60 catches for 980 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Also taking into consideration that tight end Rob Gronkowski may retire this offseason, New England really needs to shore up its passing attack, so it would not be surprising to see the Pats take one of these two receivers at some point in the draft.

The Patriots won 11 games and captured their 10th straight AFC East division title this past season en route to winning another Lombardi trophy.
