The New England Patriots could really use some more playmakers on the offensive side of the ball, so they brought in wide receiver Demaryius Thomas and running back T.J. Yeldon for visits on Wednesday, according to Field Yates of ESPN.

The Patriots are particularly in need of threats in the passing game, as tight end Rob Gronkowski announced his retirement earlier this offseason and wideout Cordarrelle Patterson departed for the Chicago Bears via free agency. Plus, fellow receiver Josh Gordon is currently in the middle of an indefinite suspension as a result of violating the terms of his conditional reinstatement.

That's where their interest in Thomas comes into play.

Thomas split the 2018 campaign between the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans, getting traded from the Broncos to the Texans midway through the season. On the year overall, he hauled in 59 receptions for 677 yards and five touchdowns.

However, Thomas tore his Achilles in Week 16 and is on the long road to recovery.

During his prime, he was one of the top wide receivers in the league, making four Pro Bowl appearances and recording over 1,000 yards in five straight seasons, but at 31 years of age and coming off of a major injury, it remains to be seen just how effective Thomas will be in the future.

Meanwhile, Yeldon spent this past season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, serving as Leonard Fournette's backup.

He appeared in 14 contests, rushing for 414 yards and a touchdown while averaging four yards per carry. In addition, he hauled in 55 receptions for 487 yards and four scores.
