Jameis Winston is still without a home after being replaced by Tom Brady in Tampa Bay. But there are still a couple of options for the free agent quarterback. One potential landing spot is the New England Patriots, who do not seem to have a concrete plan under center following Brady's departure.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk seems to like the idea of Winston filling Brady's shoes. Florio says that he represents a more reliable option for Bill Belichick than his current stable of signal-callers:

“I’d go with the New England Patriots,” Florio said. “I mean, Brian Hoyer, Jarrett Stidham. The longer Bill Belichick is looking at that as his depth chart and reminds himself 5,100 passing yards for Jameis Winston last year. I mean, if anybody can break Jameis Winston out of the, ‘What the hell were you just doing?’ mindset, it’s gonna be Bill Belichick and Josh McDaniels. So, that’s attractive to me.”

As mentioned by Florio, New England will go into the season with Brian Hoyer and Jarrett Stidham as their top two quarterbacks. Hoyer is a journeyman QB, while Stidham has yet to start a single NFL game.

And to be perfectly honest, it's not like Winston has a whole lot of other choices if he wants to start in 2020.

It's essentially either the Patriots or the Los Angeles Chargers. With the latter seeming a more likely destination for Cam Newton than Winston.

Of course, Winston could ultimately sign somewhere to be a backup for next season. But after leading the NFL with 5,109 passing yards in 2019, that doesn't seem like an avenue he would be so amenable taking.

The 26-year-old spent the first five years of his career with the Buccaneers. He threw 33 touchdowns and 30 interceptions this past season. He became the first player in NFL history to tally 30 touchdowns and 30 picks in the same year.
