Some fans of the New England Patriots have been patiently waiting for Cam Newton to pick a number with his new team, and they can now purchase his jersey with some confidence. According to ESPN's Field Yates, Newton will be sticking with the No. 1 jersey after joining the Patriots.

Even though Newton sported the No. 2 jersey in college at Auburn, he decided to switch to the No. 1 jersey when the Carolina Panthers selected him with the first overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Since his rookie season with the Panthers, Newton hasn't worn another jersey number in the NFL.

Throughout his nine seasons with the Panthers, Newton totaled 29,041 passing yards, 182 passing touchdowns, and 108 interceptions. The dual-threat quarterback also scampered for 4,806 rushing yards and 58 rushing touchdowns in his career in Carolina.

Also, the Auburn product would be selected to three Pro Bowls and would have one first-team All-Pro selection with the Panthers. Now, after two consecutive seasons marred by injuries, Newton finds himself in New England replacing Tom Brady.

Of course, Newton is bringing his own style on and off of the field that is vastly different than Brady. However, both of them are incredibly competitive and aren't afraid to celebrate when making a remarkable play in a game.

Amid his time with the Panthers, Newton would celebrate by mimicking Clark Kent when he would reveal his Superman suit. Instead of doing it in a silver and panther blue jersey, Newton will now be donning a No. 1 jersey in the Patriots' new uniforms in the 2020 season.
