It appears that the New England Patriots mascot is okay and wasn't hospitalized after Jamal Adams did what most New York Jets fans would love to do; taking him out. Adams appeared to be trying to have some fun when he took out Pat Patriot during the Pro Bowl festivities.

Adams said afterward that his intention was to never hurt the mascot, and that the league wasn't very happy with his actions.

“My intention was never to hurt him,” Adams said afterward via Pro Football Talk. “It was all about just a joke but I definitely want to check on him and make sure everything is good. At the end of the day we were out here just having fun and it wasn’t nothing intentionally to try to hurt the guy.”

There were some rumors that the mascot had to go to the hospital, but according to a Patriots spokesperson, that wasn't the case, as he just got treated on site.

“He was not hospitalized,” the spokesman said via Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal. “He did seek medical treatment from the on-site medic. It was a painful attack.”

It will be interesting to see if the NFL decides to do anything with Adams after the hit. It was clear that Adams was trying to be funny and playful, but the hit was a big one, and there is no doubt that it was taken a bit too far.

There hasn't been an NFL comment about the incident, but don't be surprised if Adams is fined for the incident.
