The New England Patriots are looking to bolster their tight end corps after Rob Gronkowski decided to retire just a few weeks ago. Veteran tight end Austin Sefarian-Jenkins signed with the Patriots on Wednesday to a one-year deal.

Seferian-Jenkins has been in the league since 2014, playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Jets, and Jacksonville Jaguars. Although his numbers haven't exactly jumped off the stat sheets, it's safe to assume he has landed in the best possible destination for a pass-catcher.

The New England Patriots are known for heavily involving their tight ends in the passing game, so Seferian-Jenkins could be in for the best season of his career.

The veteran tight end has had his share of off-field issues, but the Patriots have been known lately to give players a second chance. If the Patriots can get Seferian-Jenkins at his full potential, he could make an incredible impact on a team in dire need of a tight end. The Patriots have seen many pass-catchers come and go, but they are making it a point to remain competitive and not let up after winning yet another Super Bowl trophy.

The Patriots know exactly what they are getting with Seferian-Jenkins, an athletic pass catcher who could give the offense some speed and be a solid target for Tom Brady. Unfortunately for New England, there sole receivers are Julian Edelman and Phillip Dorsett, so the Seferian-Jenkins addition could be huge for a team hoping to make it to another Super Bowl.
