The New England Patriots are doing everything they can to shore up their shaky receiving corps, with their latest move coming in the form of signing wide receiver Dontrelle Inman, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN.

Inman spent the 2018 campaign with the Indianapolis Colts, playing in nine games and hauling in 28 receptions for 304 yards and three touchdowns. He was actually unsigned to begin the year, but the Colts brought him aboard in mid-October.

The 30-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Virginia, went undrafted but eventually landed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2011. But, he was cut by the Jaguars shortly before that season began.

It took Inman until 2014 to find another club, as he got an opportunity with the San Diego Chargers and ended up appearing in seven contests with the team that year, catching 12 passes for 158 yards.

The following year, Inman's role within the Chargers' offense grew, as he participated in 14 games and registered 35 catches for 486 yards and three scores. He became an even more integral piece in 2016, as he played all 16 contests and finished with 58 receptions for 810 yards while reaching the end zone four times.

The Bolts then traded Inman to the Chicago Bears midway through the 2017 campaign, and he had a quiet year overall, totaling just 25 catches for 343 yards and a touchdown.

With tight end Rob Gronkowski retiring, wide receivers Cordarrelle Patterson and Chris Hogan departing via free agency and fellow wide out Josh Gordon serving an indefinite suspension, the Patriots are in desperate need for help in the passing game, and they are attempting to address it.

Along with signing Inman, New England also signed receiver Demaryius Thomas and drafted Arizona State wide out N'Keal Harry in the first round late last month.
