A few days have passed and it's still hard to grasp that Tom Brady won't be playing for the New England Patriots next season. Following Brady's decision to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New England took a full-page ad, thanking him for his time with the organization.

Even amid all of the rumors, it was evident that the Patriots wanted Brady to return in 2020. However, the legendary quarterback had other plans and wanted to continue his career elsewhere.

After being selected in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft, Brady seemed to be a regular late-round pick. On the contrary, the Michigan product would become the most accomplished quarterback of all-time with the Patriots.

In his 20 seasons in New England, Brady helped the Patriots secure nine conference championships and 17 division titles. Of course, Brady would be the driving force for New England as they won six Super Bowls since 2001.

As Robert Kraft alluded to in the newspaper ad, there isn't anyone that has the competitive spirit of Brady. Even though he turns 43 years old later this year, Brady continues to have the burning passion to compete.

With Brady heading to Tampa Bay, he'll set out to begin a new phase of his career. On the other hand, the Patriots have the impossible task of finding the successor to the greatest quarterback in NFL history.

Without a doubt, what Brady and the Patriots did over the last two decades will never be replicated. While some believe there was a rift between Brady and the New England organization, there seems to be a mutual level of respect as he transitions to his new team.
