After drafting one offensive lineman in the first round of the draft, the New England Patriots have just added another via trade. The Patriots have traded for San Francisco 49ers tackle Trent Brown, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

49ers are trading OT Trent Brown and pick number 143 overall to the New England Patriots in exchange for pick number 95 overall, per @FieldYates and me. The deal is pending a physical.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport has since confirmed that Brown has passed his physical.

Brown, 25, was a seventh-round pick by the Niners in the 2015 draft. He played in 32 games (28 starts) in his three years in San Francisco. He started all 16 games for them at right tackle in 2016 and during the 10 games he played last season, which was shortened due to a shoulder injury. He's continuing his recovery from the injury and is expected to be back for training camp.

The Niners just drafted top-rated tackle Mike McGlinchey with the No. 9 overall pick in the NFL Draft, which likely made Brown expendable.

This move continues the Patriots' reconstruction of their offensive line, which lost both their starting tackles from last season. Left tackle Nate Solder signed with the New York Giants and right tackle Cameron Fleming went to the Dallas Cowboys.

The Pats had already signed Matt Tobin and Luke Bowanko in free agency, re-signed LaAdrian Waddle, and just drafted Georgia offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn with their No. 23 overall pick.

This trade is the second one the Patriots and 49ers have made in the last six months. Last October, the Pats traded quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to San Francisco for a second-round pick.
