This year's Super Bowl LIII matchup between the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams could be tabbed as the “Aqib Talib Bowl” when all is said and done as the veteran cornerback has notably suited up for both franchises. With it seeming like Talib would be reaching the Super Bowl one way or another this season, that has now been further solidified in regards to the former Patriots cornerback and current Rams defensive back.

According to a recent report from Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the Patriots were apparently finalists in regards to landing Talib's services for a second time. However, instead, the veteran cornerback made his way from the Denver Broncos to the Rams this past offseason.

“While the Patriots allowed Talib to walk in free agency in 2014, there has always been mutual respect there, and sources said while the Broncos moved on because of salary, Bill Belichick believed that Talib had several good years left,” writes Rapoport. “Talib actually blocked a trade to the 49ers — he told NFL Network's Mike Silver this week that the Patriots and the Cowboys were also on his list of acceptable destinations.”

Talib has become a tremendous player over the years while suiting up for both the Patriots and Rams in addition to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and aforementioned Broncos.

“Aqib was a good player when we had him, and we knew the kind of player he was [when] leaving Denver,” Patriots director of player personnel, Nick Caserio, recently told NFL.com. “He's always had that production.”

The Rams are currently tied with the Patriots 3-3 late in the third quarter.
