The New England Patriots are not in need of a quarterback, but they will have a scout in attendance for Colin Kaepernick's work out on Saturday. According to Jim McBride of the Boston Globe, they will send a representative to Atlanta.

It is unlikely that the Patriots sign Kaepernick. Typically, the Bill Belichick-led team carries two quarterbacks on the roster. They have just that with Tom Brady and Jarrett Stidham (rookie). Though, they have carried three on the roster at some periods of time in 2019.

The NFL informed clubs on Tuesday that Kaepernick will have a work out for teams on Saturday, Nov. 23 in Atlanta, Ga. Since 2016, the polarizing quarterback has not played in the NFL, non-coincidentally after kneeling pre-game in a fight for racial injustice.

The NFL settled a legal case with Kaepernick and Panthers safety Eric Reid earlier in the offseason. Since then, he has ramped up his efforts mightily to get back to the highest level of football.

Said the league in a statement, via ESPN:

“Earlier this year, we discussed some possible steps with his representatives and they recently emphasized his level of preparation and that he is ready to work out for clubs and be interviewed by them. We have therefore arranged this opportunity for him to work out, and for all clubs to have the opportunity to evaluate his current readiness and level of interest in resuming his NFL career.”

It is unclear what type of interest Kaepernick would receive after the workout. Considering the drama he would bring to a team if signed, the fact that he hasn't played since 2016 and it being the middle of the 2019 season, he may receive fairly little.

Only time will tell if that is true.
