The New England Patriots won the Super Bowl last month, giving safety Patrick Chung his third championship ring. Yet, Chung didn't have too much time to enjoy the victory. He has been slapped with a lawsuit related to the game.

Chung is being sued by a former Los Angeles Rams employee, per Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com. The former employee texted a friend of his an insult about Chung after Chung broke his arm in the Super Bowl. The friend happened to also run Chung's social media accounts, and posted the text online.

The employee is now suing for defamation, alleging the ordeal cost him his job with the Rams. He also claims he's been the victim of harassment from Chung's fans online. He's reportedly seeking $1.75 million in damages.

Taken in the second round out of Oregon back in 2009, Chung has been a key member of the Patriots' defenses over the years. In 15 games and 14 starts last year, he had 84 tackles and one interception.

He was knocked out of the big game with the arm injury, but it didn't hurt the Patriots' defense too much; they held the Rams to just three points. Chung has two years left on the extension he signed in March of last year. He should be back as a starter in New England's secondary next season.
