Now that Kyler Murray has officially announced his intent to declare for the NFL draft, teams are chomping at the bit to get a chance to snag him.

One such team is, of course, the New England Patriots, who are looking to maintain their legacy team.

Peter King tells NBC Sports that he thinks the Patriots would be interested in making the investment in the rookie player, and it says a lot about how the game of football has changed over the years:

If I’m New England, I’m looking long and hard at Murray, for three reasons: Tom Brady will be 42 the next time he takes a snap, the Patriots have enough currency (six picks in the top 101 of this draft, plus next year’s first-rounder) to move into the top 10 if he slips a bit, and Murray could sit and learn while getting physically prepped to be a long-term quarterback.

Murray is expected to be one of the top quarterback choices in this year's draft, with teams like the Oakland Raiders, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Miami Dolphins seeming like potential fits due to their current situations under center.

It should be interesting to see whether Kyler Murray does, in fact, become a Patriot — or where he ultimately lands in his burgeoning football career after he chose to pursue it over baseball.
