New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has made it clear that he intends to keep playing until he reaches 45-years -old. It appears that goal has not changed up to this point in the 2019 NFL season.

There has been plenty of speculation regarding whether or not the timeline for Brady has changed amidst his recent contract status. He recently reiterated his desire to play a few more years, via Ryan Hannable of WEEI:

Tom Brady says playing until 45 is still a goal of his. Asked about speculation on his future again coming up: “I don’t know why all of this is being brought up. It’s not by me.” Says he doesn’t pay attention to it.

Brady is set to become a free agent after the 2019 campaign and has long made it a point to take whatever team-friendly salary allows the Patriots to shore up as much talent as possible. Some have figured that the looming contract situation may have some kind of impact on he long-term plans beyond this season, however, that hardly seems to be the case.

Brady is in the midst of a modest year in terms of production by his standards. Regardless, New England remains one of two undefeated teams in the league this season.

It is difficult to envision them parting ways without a known backup to take his place. Fortunately, the three-year timetable does offer head coach Bill Belichick some extra time to potentially secure a viable replacement under center. Until then, Brady seems to be taking it one game at a time.
