Earlier today, the Palm Beach County state attorney announced that 25 men, one of which includes New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, have been charged in connection to a recent prostitution sting.

In a tweet shared by the Boston Globe’s Ben Volin, Palm Beach County state attorney Dave Aronberg announced that the 25 men, including Kraft, have all been charged with a first-degree misdemeanor for soliciting prostitution. The charges, which are punishable with up to a year in jail, are surprising, as many thought that they would only be getting second-degree charges.

According to Aronberg, a first-degree misdemeanor conviction would carry with it a mandatory sentence of 100 hours of community service, a mandatory $5,000 fine, and a mandatory class on the dangers of human trafficking.

Earlier today, ESPN reported that an arrest warrant for the owner of the Patriots would be coming imminently, with many believing it will be served as early as today. With the charges being announced, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see the police want to follow up on that as quickly as possible.

Kraft was initially named in the charges after he’d visited a massage parlor in Jupiter, Florida, and was allegedly soliciting sex from one of its employees.

According to police, this massage parlor was one of many that have been under investigation in a much larger prostitution ring. In a statement by the NFL earlier this week, the league confirmed that Kraft would be subject to potential disciplinary action as the league’s code of conduct dictates.
