The Michigan Wolverines were on pace to make it to the College Football Playoff until Urban Meyer’s Ohio State Buckeyes took Jim Harbaugh’s boys to the woodshed on Saturday, with the Buckeyes pounding out a huge 62-39 victory in Columbus. Ohio State’s win gave Buckeyes superfan and Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James a reason to celebrate on social media. It’s the contrary for New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who simply tried to treat his alma mater’s wounded ego with a dose of humor.

The Wolverines arguably have the best stop unit in the nation, but their vaunted defense simply didn’t show up against the Buckeyes. Or maybe it’s really just Ohio State’s day. In any case, Michigan’s CFP hopes are likely dead, especially with the loss coming this late in the season. With that, the Wolverines will likely have to content themselves with a ticket to a still prestigious bowl game, though, a non-CFP one. Ohio State, on the other hand, will go up against the Northwestern Wildcats in the Big Ten championship game on Dec. 1 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Tom Brady has zero plans of following the same route taken by the Wolverines, as he tries to lead the Patriots to a playoff appearance this season. The Patriots are currently pacing the rest of the AFC East division with a 7-3 record, and will look to improve their ledger against the New York Jets on the road this Sunday.
