What if we told you that Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers ended up finishing his career with the New England Patriots? Wait… don't leave yet!

The Green Bay Packers made a splash when they traded up in the 2020 NFL Draft to take Utah State quarterback Jordan Love with the 26th overall pick. There is now plenty of speculation regarding the future of quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers' days are apparently numbered in Green Bay. Former running back Reggie Bush even took to Twitter to raise the question:

Bush then doubled down by suggesting the New England Patriots as a potential trade partner.

The prospect of the Patriots trying to add Rodgers may seem rather far-fetched. After all, they do not have very many resources to acquire him via trade and even his lucrative deal would be difficult for them to pay out in the 2020 NFL season.

Regardless, the fact that they chose to bring in Rodgers' successor so soon is indicative of their future plans under center. The Packers gave up a fourth-rounder in order to swap picks with the Houston Texans to take Love despite having a number of other notable voids to fill on the roster. Although they may have come up one game short of a Super Bowl in the 2019 NFL season, it appears they are already looking toward the future.

Meanwhile, the Patriots ushered in a new era by parting ways with quarterback Tom Brady. Their competition for the starter under center will now come down between Brian Hoyer and Jarrett Stidham. While Rodgers would undoubtedly be a major upgrade, it remains to be seen just how interested they are in bringing another veteran option.
