The New England Patriots, who are in the middle of their preparation for this coming Sunday’s showdown with the Detroit Lions at Ford Field, have released their injury report on Thursday and on it is the name of tight end Rob Gronkowski.

According to the report, Gronkowski is dealing with an ankle issue. If anything, he practiced on Thursday, though, only as a limited participant, a good sign for Gronkowski and the Patriots, who also have the likes of safety Patrick Chung, wide receiver Josh Gordon, and running back Sony Michel on the injury report. It’s uncertain where Gronkowski sustained the injury, but it’s likely during practice as he did not seem hurt in last Sunday’s 31-20 road loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Against the Jaguars, Rob Gronkowski was held to only 15 receiving yards on two targets, as Jacksonville made it of paramount importance to stop Tom Brady’s hulking downfield target. Back in Week 1, Gronk had 123 receiving yards and a touchdown on seven catches in a 27-20 win at Foxboro over the Houston Texans.

The Patriots are also only being cautious of Gronkowski, thus his addition to the report and his being limited in practice. But in case, Gronkowski misses the Detroit game, Chris Hogan is expected to have an increased load in New England’s passing attack that ranks 18th in the league with 243.5 yards per game.
