In the days leading up to the primetime matchup between the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs, there has been plenty of chatter regarding a comparison of star tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Travis Kelce.

It began with Chiefs quarterback Parick Mahomes saying he believes Kelce is the best player at the tight end position in the league. That sentiment finally made its way back to Gronkowski Thursday.

He voiced that he doesn't want to delve into the matter, rather leaving it up to the media to discuss who the best tight end is while giving praise to his colleague, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN.

“The rankings, the comparisons and all that, I'll just leave that up to you guys [in the media], whatever you say,” Gronkowski said Wednesday. “I just try to do my best. I think he's a great player, and I've just got to worry about what I can do to help out the team.”

Gronkowski is letting his resume speak for itself, as he has put together an illustrious career up to this point. While nagging health problems have held him back, he has proven to be a game-changing talent when on the field. Gronkowski has put up four 1,000 receiving yard campaigns along with 77 receiving touchdowns, which currently ranks 30th all-time in NFL history.

Gronkowski is also off to a respectable start this year with 23 catches for 308 receiving yards and a touchdown that has him on pace to notch 74 catches for 986 receiving yards. If he continues on this pace over the next few years, it could further present a strong case for one day putting him in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Meanwhile, Kelce has put together some highly productive campaigns as well, as he has earned three straight Pro Bowls selections after recording at least 70 catches and 875 receiving yards in each year while topping 1,000 receiving yards in each of the last two seasons. Kelce is also off to a solid start to the 2018 season, hauling in 28 receptions for 407 receiving yards and three touchdowns that has him on track to post 90 catches for 1,302 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.

Gronkowski simply has no interest diving into this debate, but at the same time he holds a huge amount of respect for Kelce that is likely a mutual feeling between two of the league's top tight ends.
