There's a raging battle in the New England Patriots fandom about the future of Tom Brady. Some think he should retire a Patriot while others clamor for change after a disappointing season. If you ask Rob Gronkowski, he'd rather see his former teammate explore the market and see what's in store for him if he leaves.

Gronkowski never left the Patriots throughout his career, and Pats Nation loved him for that. However, he believes that the man who has spent 20 years with the organization must not be bullied by the team or the fans into signing a new deal with them. With the six Super Bowls he gave the team, he feels that Brady should be given the freedom to pursue what he feels is a perfect situation for him.

Per NFL.com's Kevin Patra:

“I truly believe that he deserves the opportunity to go explore, to see what's out there,” Gronk said Tuesday, via the Boston Globe. “I mean, he's been playing for so long, and just the way that he's been playing, just the level he's been playing at, he definitely deserves an opportunity to go out there and test the market. I mean, why wouldn't you? I mean, you've never done it before in your career, and he's going to be a free agent for the first time ever. So, good for him. Go test out the market and then do what's best for himself. That's the decision that he has to make, is what's best for himself, best for his family, what he feels like he's going to love.”

It will be a painful divorce for everyone if Brady does decide to bolt. After all, he's notched 74,571 passing yards and 541 touchdowns through his 20 years as a Patriot. Moreover, the memories he built with this team will not be erased by any decision TB12 will make.

The ball is now on Tom Brady's court. He's the only person who knows if he'll stay or go by the start of the 2020 campaign. One thing is for sure, Rob Gronkowski will support him either way.
