Throughout much of the season, there has been some underlying chatter surrounding the New England Patriots about the long-term future of both quarterback Tom Brady and tight end Rob Gronkowski.

Brady has already voiced this week that he has a strong desire to play beyond the 2019 campaign. However, Gronkowski has taken another approach by stating that his focus remains solely on this season, according to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.

“We haven’t thought about that. I haven’t thought about that,” Gronkowski said of playing as long as Brady. “We’ve got this big game Sunday still and the playoffs after. That’s the last thing that is on my mind right now. I love the grind. I’m all in. I’ve been all in all season, no matter if it’s been up, if it’s been down, and I’m going to tell you this right now: I’m going to be all in for the rest of the year no matter when it is. That’s just my main focus. No matter how it goes.”

This chatter has remained as Gronkowski has continued to sidestep as the season has worn on. Meanwhile, his struggles with his health with nagging back and leg injuries forcing him to miss games this season have only further fueled that conversation around him.

Gronkowski is currently under contract through the 2019 campaign, which makes the dialogue concerning his long-term future with the team quite reasonable. He has been a key piece to the puzzle offensively as one of Brady's favorite targets in the passing game throughout much of his illustrious career.

This is ultimately a situation that won't receive clarity until the 2018 season is over for the Patriots. He will likely take some time away from the game before making a decision on his NFL career.
