New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has been unusually unproductive in the red zone this season. He had not even recorded a single catch inside the 20-yard line heading into Sunday’s matchup with the Miami Dolphins.

But Gronk finally got on the board as he caught his first red-zone touchdown of the season to give the Patriots a 27-21 lead at halftime.

Gronkowski got on the end of another excellent pass from Tom Brady, who was excellent in the first half. Brady went 18 of 26 for 231 yards with three touchdowns.

Although, he was somewhat fortunate in that pass to Gronk. Dolphins safety Bobby McCain appeared to have a good shot at intercepting the pass, but he was unable to make the play. As a result, Gronkowski got his first red-zone pass of the year after previously going 0-for-5.

Gronkowski had a strong half overall as he racked up five catches for 67 yards to go with his third touchdown of the season.

As good as the Patriots offense has been thus far this season, it can get even better if Gronkowski is able to return to his old form, especially in the red zone. His ability to dominate in that part of the field has been a major part of the Patriots’ success over the past few years.

Hopefully, this touchdown against the Dolphins is the first of a few more to come as the Patriots look to make another run at the Super Bowl.
