The New England Patriots are coming off a disappointing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII.  Along with dealing the loss to Philadelphia and all the drama surrounding Josh McDaniels, the Patriots will soon find out if superstar tight end Rob Gronkowski will call it a career.

Rumors have been running rampant about Gronkowski flirting with the idea of ending his playing career in the NFL. Although many have questioned whether he'll retire, Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer believes he is indeed considering walking away from the game.

I believe Rob Gronkowski’s rumblings about retirement are real. He’s been responsible with his finances (putting away most of his football money and living largely off his endorsement cash), and he’s taken an absolute beating. That this is a real choice for high-profile players now is great progress, too. Give credit to ex-Niner LB Patrick Willis and ex-Lions WR Calvin Johnson credit for blazing that trail.

Apparently, Gronkowski may be considering retirement to pursue an acting career with a couple of movie stars pushing him in that direction. Gronkowski is obviously intrigued by the career change and may finally be fed up with all the injuries he's sustained during his time with the Patriots.

At this point, there's been no indication as to which direction Gronkowski could be leaning. The Patriots brass will have to sit and wait to see whether arguably the best tight end in the NFL ultimately retires or decides to come back for at least one more season in New England.
