New England Patriots safety Devin McCourty was honored by team owner Robert Kraft on Tuesday night for his work with Boston Uncornered.

As reported by Mike Reiss of ESPN (via Pro Football Talk), Boston Uncornered is “a corner to college model that engages gang-involved individuals to end generational urban poverty.” McCourty has been championing the organization since late last year.

For his part, Robert Kraft announced a $100,000 donation — as part of an overall $1 million pledge for social-justice causes — to Boston Uncornered in honor of the efforts of Devin McCourty.

Devin and his twin brother Jason are assisting current and former gang members off the streets and into school, using financial incentives to help them through high school and college. With the help of Kraft's donation, alongside the support of countless others such as Patriots legend Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichik, the twins are doing their part to help make America a better place.

In his closing remarks after the donations, Devin McCourty had this to say:

“I just want to leave people with what I’ve learned from guys you saw, like Matt Slater and Ben Watson, that as people we have an opportunity to really give people hope. And when you give people hope, you give them an opportunity to be anything they want. You give me an opportunity to be, like Slate said, who God made them to be. Continue to bring hope to people and try to bring out the greatness in everyone.”

With the recent support for Boston Uncornered, the Patriots veteran is surely elated that his efforts are paying off.
