New England Patriots rookie running back Damian Harris worked under Nick Saban during his time with the Alabama Crimson Tide and now he gets to work with Bill Belichick, two of the best coaches in football. Harris got the call from Belichick during the third round of the draft, and said right away he could tell there were some similarities with Nick Saban. Via boston.com.

“The two-minute conversation I had with coach Belichick on the phone sounded very much like if I was on the phone with [Alabama] coach [Nick] Saban. Everybody knows their relationship, everybody knows they’re very similar in their demeanors, their coaching styles. They’re both about business and winning.”

Belichick is one of the great coaches of all time and his coaching style is one filled with tough love, something that he got a lot during his time with Saban and the Crimson Tide. Harris is excited that he showed enough in Alabama to get drafted and get a chance to learn the Patriots system.

“It’s an incredible honor. It’s a privilege to be a part of this organization. I’m very thankful Mr. Kraft, coach Belichick believe in me and gave me an opportunity to play for this great organization.”

Last year with the Crimson Tide Harris rushed for 876 yards and nine touchdowns. He also hauled in 22 receptions for 204 yards. Belichick loves to use multiple running backs so there is no doubt Harris is going to get his chances on the field to contribute to the team.
