Wide receiver Josh Gordon left the New England Patriots this week to deal with his mental health. It was later revealed that Gordon violated the terms of his conditional reinstatement under the NFL drug policy.

Gordon certainly has demons to conquer, and former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf knows that road all too well.

Leaf has graciously offered to help Gordon with his issues, saying that he knows what Gordon is dealing with, according to TMZ Sports.

“This will be the hardest thing he ever does,” said Leaf. “Making it to the NFL for him was easy in comparison to what he has to battle and what he goes through on a daily basis.”

Leaf, who dealt with drug addiction himself, now hosts a sports talk show on SiriusXM. He says he has already reached out to Gordon.

“This is really all about surrender and acceptance,” he said. “Surrendering to something bigger than you and then accepting the help from people who have been through it before. I've reached out to Josh and his manager, Michael Johnson, plenty of times, and they know I'm here for him. They know I'm available.”

In 12 games between the Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots this season, Gordon hauled in 41 receptions for 737 yards and four touchdowns.

The 27-year-old, who played collegiate football at both Utah and Baylor, was originally selected by the Browns in the second round of the 2012 NFL Supplemental Draft.

Gordon had a monster year in his second season, leading the NFL with 1,646 yards to go along with 87 catches and nine scores en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and a First-Team All-Pro selection.

Since then, drug abuse has ruled Gordon's career.

Hopefully, the kid gets things figured out.
