What a terrific job by the rook, running back Sony Michel.

We've witnessed many phenomenal rags-to-riches stories in professional sports through the years—especially over the last three or so decades due to the increasing amount of contractual dollars. Highlighting these stories are gifts to loved ones fit for a king or queen.

Now, another is added.

The New England Patriots rookie took his first NFL paycheck with the express purpose to buy his mom and dad new cars, via Tyler Sullivan of 247Sports.

Michel, 23, represents the 31st pick of the 2018 NFL Draft. Bill Belichick's been known to capitalize on his late first, early-second-round selections throughout his tenure in New England. Michel is just the latest of that ilk.

The rook took to his Instagram story to reveal the big news about the new vehicles per his parents.

“I rather my parents live their best life now,” Michel wrote on the first slide of his story. “Real goals!!! Enjoy.”

The following slide on the story reveals the photos of the brand new automobiles.

Michel joins a cast of Pats running back characters that could easily be taken out (per competition). At the same time, there is a handful.

James White, Rex Burkhead, Mike Gillislee and Brandon Bolden are the returning individuals who set up behind Tom Brady. Michel is joined by NFL vet Jeremy Hill as a newcomer. That equals six options in the backfield (not counting fullback James Develin who's almost assured a spot as the only man at his position).

Due to his first-round status, it's unlikely Michel could ever find himself on the chopping block, but he'll still have his work cut out for him this summer via the competition at the position on the New England Patriots depth chart.
