New England Patriots running back Sony Michel is back to his usual running routine after undergoing offseason knee surgery.

Michel emerged as a versatile option for the Patriots in his rookie season with the team, and that allowed Bill Belichick and company to make him a key piece of the team's offensive attack in capturing another Super Bowl trophy.

And while the knee surgery wasn't ideal, it appears that Michel is already back at full speed as he continues his rehab during the offseason.

From Jeremy Bergman of NFL.com:

Michel is “progressing quickly” from his offseason arthroscopic knee surgery and has been running at “full tilt,” multiples sources told NFL Network's Mike Giardi. The running back is reportedly receiving treatment at the TB12 Sports Therapy Center in Foxborough, spending “considerable time” there.

Michel had 209 carries for 931 yards and seven touchdowns last season and had just one fumble during the year.

Of course, New England once again has several intriguing options to work with when it comes to the running game, which has become a staple during Belichick's tenure as coach.

But Michel certainly has the potential to have a breakout season due to his excellent potential, and that could give him an opportunity to emerge as the most dynamic playmaker in the Patriots' offense.
