New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has sacrificed money for success for many years now. ESPN's Stephen A. Smith had something to say about Brady's salary now that Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson just got a big-time payday.

“I believe in excellence being rewarded. When you consider the fact that this is a six-time Super Bowl champion, a multiple league MVP. When you think about what Tom Brady brings to the table — I’m very big on résumés. The fact of the matter is Tom Brady is universally recognized by everybody as being the greatest who’s ever lived. He’s still playing, he’s standing here now as a reigning Super Bowl champion.

Smith compared Brady's salary compared to Seattle's Russell Wilson, who just got a massive extension to stick around for the next four seasons. Wilson is a very successful quarterback, yet Smith doesn't think he should be making more than Brady if success is a deciding factor.

The Patriots have been fortunate enough for many years now to get Brady at a huge discount despite countless years of success. Brady is not even in the top-five in regards to quarterback salaries. Atlanta Falcons Matt Ryan and Detroit Lions Matthew Stafford earn substantially more than the six-time Super Bowl winning quarterback.

New England's lack of pass-catching help has made things harder on Brady, but he continues to prove why he is one of the sport's greatest of all time as he often performs above and beyond despite adversity.
