The New England Patriots are coming off yet another Super Bowl title and will have the majority of the team's star players on both sides of the football back for the 2019 campaign. One of those players is All-Pro cornerback Stephon Gilmore who had his best season to date in 2018.

With Gilmore making a name for himself as one of the best corners in the NFL last season, the pressure is on to lead the defense once again in their title defense. However, Gilmore isn't feeling the pressure as he's going with a day-to-day approach for the upcoming season, via Jim McBride of the Boston Globe.

“I don’t feel pressure — I just come out and take it day by day,’’ said Gilmore. “Each year is different. You just come out here and work. Nobody is going to give you anything. Just take that mind-set and try and produce.

“I know what I can do, and my teammates and coaches put me in position to make plays, so without them, I couldn’t be in the position I am now, he said. “It’s a good thing, but you have to prove yourself every year. You have to earn your keep every year.’’

Gilmore will continue to be called upon to lead the way for the Patriots defensively as they try to repeat as Super Bowl champions. The 28-year-old recorded 40 solo tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and a sack last year.

The championship window in New England remains open for the Patriots with Tom Brady back for another season and head coach Bill Belichick still calling the shots on the sideline. The team may have seen arguably their best offensive weapon in tight end Rob Gronkowski announce his retirement, but counting this team is hard to do as they have a knack for defying the odds and exceeding expectations.
