With all eyes currently set on Cam Newton and the possibility of the former league MVP parting ways with the New England Patriots in the offseason, one important aspect that has been somewhat overlooked is the future of cornerback Stephon Gilmore with the Pats. The 30-year-old may have just provided us with a hint of how things will shape up for him in 2021 and it's hard not to read too much into his simple tweet.

Gilmore sent out a six-word tweet, which might just be telling of his future plans with the Patriots:

In his cryptic tweet above, Gilmore could be hinting at the possibility of a potential move away from New England.

The All-Pro CB was the center of numerous trade rumors last season, and as at the moment, the whispers just won't go away. New England does not appear to be actively shopping the former Defensive Player of the Year winner — or so it seems — but it would not come as a complete shock if a trade is announced in the near future. Then again, remaining in New England will still remain to be a viable possibility for Gilmore, so at this point, everything seems to be up in the air.

The Patriots have focused much of their attention on superstar quarterback Cam Newton, who could very well be on his way out of New England.  This is undoubtedly the front office's No. 1 priority at the moment — and rightfully so — but the future of Gilmore is also of utmost importance.
