Prior to the AFC Championship Game, there was much attention drawn to the right hand injury that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady suffered in practice.

It was a topic that the Patriots and Brady chose to avoid over the last few days with the focus on their opponent in the Jacksonville Jaguars. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the 40-year-old had received 12 stitches to the cut on his right hand.

The fact that Brady was able to put together a strong performance despite the injury on his throwing hand is just remarkable. He was able to complete 26-of-38 passes for 290 yards along with a pair of touchdowns with no interceptions while holding a 108.4 passer rating. He was particularly huge in the fourth quarter, completing 9-of-14 passes for 138 yards with two touchdowns to overcome a 10-point deficit in the period.

Brady was no longer wearing a glove on his right hand during the postgame interviews, which revealed the stitched up part of his hand.

Brady had avoided discussing the injury leading up to the game. There were some concerns that arose after he missed Thursday's practice, but the Patriots never voiced any real doubt about his status for the contest. The injury also didn't appear to limit him in any fashion on Sunday afternoon against the Jaguars as he was able to make all the necessary throws down the field with the same type of accuracy.

Brady will now have two weeks to heal up that hand ahead of the Patriots' Super Bowl matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. But if his performance against the Jaguars is any indication, he likely won't need too much time to get back to his very best.
