Patriots’ Tom Brady leads NFL merchandise sales for second straight year

Tom Brady, Patriots

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s jersey is the NFL’s top-seller for the second consecutive year.

The NFL Players Association’s official website broke the news on April 24.

For a second straight year, fans propelled Tom Brady to No. 1 on the year-end NFLPA Top 50 Player Sales List, based on total sales of all officially licensed NFL player merchandise from March 1, 2o18 through February 28, 2019.

Brady is the only player to claim the retail crown three times. Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson previously finished atop the year-end sales list twice.

This marks a record 15th appearance for Brady among the top three best-selling players since the list’s inception in 2014 – and he has never ranked outside of the top nine.

The 41-year-old Brady, a six-time Super Bowl champion, also had one of the most popular Nike jerseys. The Patriots quarterback’s fatheads, Funko pop vinyl collectibles, FY19 socks, DecoPac cake toppers, MasterPieces jigsaw puzzles, Outerstuff youth clothing, and Pets First pet jerseys were also top sellers, per the NFLPA.

The NFLPA’s official website also included some noteworthy year-end player sales highlights.

  • Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott earned runner-up honors to Brady for the third straight year. The former’s teammate, running back Ezekiel Elliott, took the No. 4 spot.
  • Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and 2018 NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes moved up to the No. 5 spot.
  • Five rookies – Saquon Barkley (No. 6), Baker Mayfield (No. 12), Sam Darnold (No. 26), Leighton Vander Esch (No. 31), and Josh Allen (No. 48) – made it to the NFLPA Top 50 Player Sales List.

With Brady showing no signs of slowing down, expect him to dominate the NFLPA Top 50 Players Sales List again next season.
